Tips and Ideas from our designers to refresh your space!

Bring the outside in, literally.  At this point, (or almost) there are some chilly trees out there wanting to come in from the cold… Use branches brought in from your yard ( or from the friendly local florist) such as forsythia, or pussy willow. Already leafed-out branches can fill out the vase. The idea is FRESH!  Of course, forcing bulbs is a popular way to bring the spring feeling and smells inside. Just be sure that your container looks fab too.

Ditch the heavy, dark window treatments! Take them down…. They are weighing down your mood. Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean that you need heavy colors, muddy brocades, or outdated styles!  Freshen up with clear tones, and a lighter palette.  Let the sun shine in when it’s strong, and insulate with a better system.

You say that you need insulation from those nasty drafts? Let’s go with a new energy efficient Duette shade on the glass, in a nice light texture which will keep it fresh looking and keep the warmth in the room. The Kellner Store offers premium Hunter Douglas products, and expert advice to guide you through the selection process. We make it easy to know which product is best for YOUR window! From now until April 8, Hunter Douglas is offering a $100.00 rebate on insulating shades. Take advantage now!

You can also add another layer of light colored drapery panels, in say, a linen blend to give the room some height, softness, and, you guessed it- coziness! They can be lined or unlined. We have a wonderful selection of designer fabrics, and we are always here to help you select the best fabric for your room. Our designers are also happy to consult in your home to help with design and advice!  Check that spring update off your list feeling relieved and happy to have made such an impact that is practical and beautiful.

Instant gratification.

If you want a quick pick-me-up, we can find you the right fabric for some fun pillows to tide you over. This inexpensive choice will get you through the snowstorms. A few well-chosen accessories can make all the difference. Imagine how bland this room would be without those great pillows!

Organizing and decluttering– ( the crash course!)  The most important idea of all is….. Just do it! But take small bites. Only 20-30 minutes at a time. Start with an easy one, like the sock drawer, or the junk drawer in the kitchen, old magazines.  You don’t need to go all Marie Kondo, but try to see if these objects spark joy- if not, toss! Another good rule of thumb…when was the last time you used it? Put it in the donation pile and bring someone else joy! You’ll be ahead of the game if you’re already clean and tidy.

The calm you feel will be worth your time.

We hope this post motivated you to get Spring ready. We hope to see you in the shop soon. Let us know how we can help!
